Cinematical's SmartGossip: Lohan in Wonderland

The big Hollywood gossip this week, considered newsworthy enough even to rise above the post- Golden Globe babble about clothes and parties, is that actress Lindsay Lohan has checked herself into a rehab facility. As Erik Davis reported earlier this week, this means that shooting has been postponed on the film I Know Who Killed Me, in which she was set to play twin sisters. Details on the story abound in the media, from descriptions of Wonderland Center, the rehab facility, to quotes from Lohan's mom being all supportive. Once the news quieted down over her check-in, I figured we were in for a Lohan-news-free month, but celebrity news reporters are already monitoring her comings and goings, even if it's just to a doctor's office.

Here are some more celebrity news highlights from the past week:
    • Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt bought a house in the French Quarter section of New Orleans, and plan to live their often enough to send their kids to school there. Hope to see 'em both gutting houses in Algiers soon and wearing New Orleans Saints apparel.
  • Britney Spears is not pregnant at the moment, in case you were wondering.
  • So the dress Jessica Biel wore to the Golden Globes is the same one Hilary Swank wore to an Oscar party in 2004. Why is this so awful? It's not like they wore the same outfit to the same event. Shouldn't this be viewed as good for the environment, since we're all supposed to be about recycling? And if a dress is that stunning, why should it be worn once and then hidden away? I've never understood the cattiness about this kind of thing.
  • Go Fug Yourself has photos galore of the less successful outfits worn at the Golden Globes, as well as a few words of praise. The outfit I found scariest was worn by Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) ... my cat would love it, though.
  • Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, whom you might remember as the lead in Bride and Prejudice, is officially engaged to her co-star in several films (Guru, Dhoom 2), Abhishek Bachchan. These are two of the biggest Bollywood stars currently working. A wedding date has not yet been confirmed.
  • Photo time: Uma Thurman in a flattering bikini. You're welcome.
  • Something fun: A short and delightful McSweeney's monologue entitled "Matthew McConaughey Explains to His Friend Rich That He Forgot His Dr. Pepper." [via Defamer]
